Avocet Lodge is situated in Cliff House Park on Dunwich Heath on the Suffolk Coast, which is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Avocet Lodge is a 2 bedroomed lodge available for rental throughout the year which is ideal for couples or families of 3. The living area is open plan with sofa and armchair, TV & DVD player and a full width glass front with doors opening onto a large wooden decking area. We have a view of the sea through trees which can be seen from the lounge and decking area, although this is better in autumn and winter as the trees do block this view when in leaf. There is nothing better than sitting on the decking with a glass of wine looking seawards and listening to the rolling waves.

There is a dining table for 4 people and the kitchen has a large fridge & freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, built-in oven and gas hob. A Nespresso coffee maker is available too.

The hallway has a door out to the decking at the side of the lodge. Off the hall is the main bedroom with double bed and double built-in wardrobes, the second bedroom which has one single bed and is suitable for one adult or child, and the bathroom which has a large shower.

Coastguard Cottages
The park stands on the top of Dunwich cliffs with steep steps down to the beach, which is a mix of shingle and sand at low tide; perfect for beach combing! From Avocet Lodge, the walk to the beach is about 75 paces! From the beach you can walk to the north to Dunwich village, which used to be one of the most important ports in the country, or if you fancy a longer walk, to Walberswick and Southwold. A twenty minutes beach walk to the south brings you to Dunwich Heath Nature Reserve and the Coastguard Cottages where you can enjoy cake and a coffee in the stunning surroundings of the National Trust heathland.  RSPB Minsmere, a fantastic RSPB reserve, is 10 minutes further on. Minsmere is home  to Avocets, Marsh Harriers and Nightingales to name but a few.
